Introduction |
> Game of Thrones: Episode 1 - Iron From Ice (GoTE1) is a
game based on the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels by
George R. R. Martin and HBO's fantastic TV series. This is a six
part downloadable game selling for $4.99 per episode. At this time,
Episode 1 is the only part available. |
Graphics |
> I really like the cell-shaded 3D characters and landscapes throughout
GoTE1. The visuals could have been more detailed, but
I suppose I can look past that for the price. Telltale Games even
rendered a truncated version of the TV series introduction -- cool but
somewhat lacking. |
Control |
> GoTE1 is graphic adventure through and through. Point
and click options are sometimes available, as are the occasional QTE (quick
time event) situation. The rest of the time you watch the characters
talk and get to answer (timed) questions to develop the story. |
Sound |
> The music is decent enough, as are the sound effects. The voice
acting ranges from pretty good to lacking. |
Fun |
> GoTE1 would be a lot of fun without the forced perspective,
or if you could actually go places and buy items, etc.. I could go
on... Anyway, this is a simple adventure based on a cool book/TV
show. Beyond the story there isn't much fun. |
Bottom
Line |
> Game of Thrones: Iron From Ice is a $5, 1-2 hour graphic
adventure with a decent story. If that's you, then buy it.
If you expect more for your money then just watch the TV show. |
