> The Amazing Nurse Nanako (ANN) series features Dr. Kyoji
Ogami (the world's leading surgeon, scientist and bio-engineer), and Nanako
Shichigusa (his nurse, housekeeper and addle-minded troublemaker).
Dr. Ogami's ultimate goal, which surely isn't realized within the first
two episodes, is to transplant Nanako's brain into the body of the ultimate
cybernetic combat robot, the Venus 2000! Well, maybe not...
> In the initial episodes featured on this volume, "Memories Of You",
Nanako proves that she can be a source of humor and frustration for the
good doctor. She's late for appointments, accidentally breaks things,
and finds herself in the middle of an experiment gone bad! If she's
not getting in trouble, then she's training in preparation for her forthcoming
surgery. How that relates isn't really explained yet. Anyway,
the doctor's genius and Nanako's ability to find trouble are explored for
character development in these two episodes of ANN.
> About the only thing that I find mildly bothersome in ANN
is Nanako's occasional high pitched whining. It hardly seems to mesh
with the supposed mature theme of the story line. Other than that,
I give very high marks to the presentation and smooth, convincing animation.
The artists are very good as well. It's very rare to see a scene
without any sort of movement, which is a good thing in my book. |
