    Overview:
         > Gatchaman is a 2013 Live Action Movie based on the 1970s anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (AKA G-Force).  The story is simple and familiar: by 2050 AD, a mysterious organization called Galactor (led by Berg Katze) has occupied half of the Earth and threatens extermination of the remainder.  It's up to the 5 man Science Ninja Team (led by Ken Washio) to stop Berg Katze's evil desire.

         > First off be prepared to read English subtitles, since this movie only has a Japanese soundtrack.  That's good enough for most anime fans anyway.  The acting is decent and the choice of actors seems to fit well.  The special effects are done nicely and include things like Ken's bird boomerang and the flaming Phoenix command ship.

         > The costumes are amazing and really bring to life both the good and bad characters.  There are plenty of ninja moves and battles to enjoy.  Where Gatchaman falls short is in the fan-service and use of the Phoenix.  I guess this series is aimed at general audiences, but a live action version would've had some nudity in my world.  There should have been more use of the Phoenix command ship to destroy some Galactor (expendable) ships or something.  What happened to the Ninja Team's individual vehicles??? Lastly, the flaming Phoenix is seen briefly at the end... what a downer.  It sounds like I only see bad, but this movie has an exciting beginning and ending.

    Bottom Line:
         > The Science Ninja Team's battle for the planets is portrayed pretty well, but this movie could easily be boiled down to a 25 minute episode.  I'm a huge fan, so I just had to have this DVD for my collection.  Gatchaman - Live Action Movie won't be converting anyone, so I recommend you check out the original anime or the remake first.
