> I've seen all too many anime flicks that claim to be funny, and of the
comedy genre. Well, Golden Boy is the first and only
anime I've seen that truly deserves to be called humorous. Treasure
Hunt is the first of two volumes released by ADV Films.
Enter the main character, Kintaro Oe, who is a 25 year old wandering student
traveling across Japan seeking knowledge of life. Along the way he
always seems to be the dope about women and street smarts, but he always
proves his intelligence in the end.
> In episode 1, "Computer Lesson", Kintaro starts out by
getting a job at an all female software company. After proving to
be a "class A" pervert numerous times, the voluptuous president threatens
to fire him. Kintaro gets the last laugh when he saves the day by
reprogramming the software that he inadvertently deleted!
> The 2nd episode, "Temptation of the Maiden", has
Kintaro working for the re-election of a mayor, who just happens to have
a spoiled and gorgeous daughter named Naoko. She seeks to make a
private toy out of Kintaro while ceaselessly teasing him with sexual advances.
Once Naoko reads his diary and discovers Kintaro is using her (to learn
about life), she sets him up to be a stalker. Kintaro shows what
he's made of when he protects Naoko's scheme in front of the mayor and
gains the love of yet another babe.
> The 3rd episode of volume 1, "Danger! The Virgin's First Love",
begins as Kintaro gets a job at a noodle shop. Mr. Kogure is a nasty
fellow who seeks to marry the shop owner's daughter, Noriko, and turn his
restaurant into a bar. Of course, this won't get bye Kintaro, who
sacrifices everything to make sure Mr. Kogure doesn't harm or have sex
with Noriko, or destroy her family business. The fun continues in
volume 2. Trust me. |
