> My first encounter with Golgo 13 was with the original Nintendo videogame.
It seemed like a cool idea, but the NES's limitations kept me from becoming
a true fan. Anyway, this film is based on a popular graphic novel
"Golgo 13", by Takao Saito/Saito Production. Its NES roots intrigued
me enough to give it a whirl...
> Right from the beginning, I was drawn into the story, as it seemed like
I was watching an anime version of James Bond. Golgo 13 is an assassin,
whose job it is to track down and kill a ruthless, sexy warlord, "Queen
Bee", before she can kill a man running for President of the USA.
Queen Bee keeps her army of men in line, ready to give their lives in service
to her, by offering herself to them (sort of as a momento). Well,
as you can guess, Golgo 13 gets the job done in a manner that would make
Bond proud (and satisfied). Add in lots of plot twists and plenty
of action to be viewed for a complete adventure.
> The graphic style of Golgo 13 suits me fine as well. Multi layered
backdrops and realistic art forms make for lots of eye candy. Add
in some comic flair with still shots at certain key moments to complete
the effect of seeing a novel. Lastly, if you don't want to see Queen
Bee topless and having sex, then don't bother watching. |
