> Instrumental music has always been a favorite of mine. Some early
Deep
Purple, Rainbow and Iron Maiden songs gave me the taste
for it. Yngwie's first international solo album, titled Yngwie J.
Malmsteen's Rising Force, has a lot of instrumentals, and a few lyric songs
for good measure. Yngwie's classical influence shines through with
wonderful results...
> The main reason I tend to concentrate on musical quality is because lots
of old Heavy Metal songs don't have enjoyable lyrics or subject matter.
Add to that the fact that I like listening to Japanese Metal, which I can't
understand, and you can see why musical themes are my main attraction.
Metal lyrics have changed over the years, but my appreciation of the music
hasn't.
> Yngwie struts his stuff from start to finish. There's little doubt
he's done some studying and practiced on his guitar to no end. His
talent is evident with a style quite unique. Too bad these are the
ingredients for a big head, which Yngwie did acquire at some point in his
career. At any rate, Rising Force is easily his best album to date. |
BOTTOM
LINE:
> If you want a top notch heavy metal album without the dodgey lyrics or
you simply enjoy metal music, then Yngwie's first album is a must buy.
The lyrics are seldom heard, but what's there is worthy nonetheless.
Listen to it and become a fan...
