     > Especially since you know I like some Japanese metal, you may be thinking Tokyo Blade is from Japan.  They are not.  The UK has been responsible for a lot of great groups over the years, and Tokyo Blade is one to add to the list.  I guess they have a fixation with Samurais and Ninjas (heh).

     > A friend of mine had this album and I was immediately converted upon listening to it.  As luck would have it, I found 'Night of the Blade' (their second album) and 'Tokyo Blade' (their first album) on CD, while vacationing in Toronto in 1985.  I knew I would probably never see them again so I zoinked them.  (-_-

     > Listening to this album, Night of the Blade can definitely be placed in the mid 80's.  I'd say they were influenced musically by Iron Maiden and Judas Priest (a no brainer).  The lead singer of Tokyo Blade sounds a lot like the guy from Rush, whose name I don't know.  On to the music.

     > This is yet another album, largely because of its continuity, that can easily be enjoyed from start to finish.  Having said that, I'd also opine that four of the eight tracks are stand outs: #2,4,7,8.  I'm not exactly familiar with the band members, but I can tell you some of the guitar solos are just excellent.  Some of their riffs have definitely made it onto other albums at a later date.  All I can say from here is if you're looking for something good that you may have missed, then give Tokyo Blade a chance.  That is if you can find their albums...

BOTTOM LINE:
     > Taking a few pages from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Tokyo Blade managed to produce a worthy metal album.  It's middle of the road, as far as "heavy" goes.  At any rate, 'Night of the Blade' is the best performance from this group that I've heard.
