> Berserk is based
on a popular Japanese comic and presented in 3D, action/adventure splendor
for the Dreamcast. Your mission is to sleigh the undead with your
huge broad sword, known as Dragon Killer, while chasing an elusive dragon
in medieval times. The story line doesn't follow the comic exactly,
but there is supposed to be a tie in.
> The graphics
that I've seen, both in the demo and from other media sources, look really
sharp. Some of the locales include the countryside, village, courtyard,
and castle. The characters animate smoothly and realistically.
Controlling your character is a snap -- the basics include jump, block,
low attack, and high attack. Special moves and combos are thrown
in for good measure. Other weapons, besides your broad sword, include
grenades, cannons, and bowguns. What's really cool is when you attack
or get attacked -- lots of red blood! It squirts all over the place
in a convincing manner.
> The demo's menus
are all English -- check. The real-time cut-scenes are nicely done
with good voice acting (Japanese). At the very least, the game will
include a Battle Arena mode (points for kills in a limited time), and a
Story mode. Berserk should maintain a high importability rating since
it's mainly action, but I certainly hope a publisher steps forward for
the US market. |
