> As you should know by now, the arcade version of F355 uses 4 Naomi boards and 3 video screens (plus an optional deluxe cabinet) to bring you the most realistic Ferrari racing simulation you can play. So how is Yu Suzuki supposed to faithfully transfer that on to one Dreamcast?! I'll know soon, but to begin with, AM2 released an arcade unit with one screen. I've played the one-screen version and was quite impressed! A comparison to the three-screen version (other than the obvious differences) isn't possible because I haven't seen or played it. > From what I've seen of the arcade and home versions so far, it's safe to say that AM2's promise to bring home this monster game at 60 fps and in tact is within reach. Additional goodies like a Link mode and an Internet mode (both confirmed for Japan only at this time) are nice to see. A two player split-screen mode will be in the mix as well. > As for gameplay -- look for realism over arcade feel. AM2 worked closely with Ferrari officials to ensure that F355 is realistic, yet playable by anybody. Various help modes are available including intelligent braking, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control. You can play in Training, Intermediate, and Race modes too. In Training mode, for instance, you'll see a red line on the road which represents the best race line to follow! To boot, you'll have six tracks to choose from for this uber-game: Suzuka, Suzuka-Short, Sogo, Motegi, Monza, and Long Beach. > The import version is almost upon us. I'm certain that the importability rating will be high. You can guarantee a copy will be on its way to my Uberconsole the minute it gets to retailers. That goes for the US version too, which will be published by Acclaim because they own the North American rights to Ferrari games... |
