> Some time after having acquired the California based development team,
Secret
Level, Sega finally released some details of their forthcoming
retro remake, Golden Axe. Not only will it receive
a huge facelift, it's being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Replacing the old-school hack'n slash gameplay will be a full featured,
in depth action/adventure. The ability to wield magic, ride various
beasts on your journey, and conquer foes on foot will be a throw back.
What characters will return? All that's been shown so far is the
ever-beautiful
Tyris Flare, in all her next-gen glory.
Will the arch nemesis be Death Adder, or one of his relatives?
The first two screenshots below are early views of the game's heroin, Tyris
Flare. |

> As is turns out, the game's title has been updated to Golden Axe:
Beast Rider. The artwork hitting the internet looks fantastic,
so let's hope the gameplay is up to snuff. It's going to be a melee combat
extravaganza. Sega has a lot to prove on this next-gen release,
and I will be there on day one. |

> Sega Fans have been wishing for the triumphant return of Golden
Axe for a long time. For me, the fact that it will be an
action/RPG, is even more reason to be excited. Throw in a gorgeous rendition
of Tyris Flare wielding an inferno of magic while taming
beasts of burden, and you have the foundation of a rock solid hit yearning
to be unleashed. |
