> A play-through of Blue Burst (Episode IV of PSO) is somewhat
shorter than Episodes I or II, hence the shorter soundtrack. The
various areas have the familiar paired songs with special tunes for the
end boss. It's surely one of the better PC game soundtracks you can
find.
> Once again, the composers did a great job of maintaining the techno-futuristic
beats and mood-setting melodies throughout. Most of the songs are
top notch, per what we've come to expect from Phantasy
Star Online games. My favorite song is track 3, "Nostalgia
In Solitude ~Part 2", which was used in Phantasy
Star Universe as well. I must say though, what were they
thinking on track 10, "World With Me ~Remix for PSO BB"? This song
has the original Episode II voice track, but sped up to sound pretty weird
-- it's the only mistake on this album.
Bottom
Line:
> The PSO Blue Burst Episode IV soundtrack does a fine job
of carrying the flag for the series. I would put it last in the ranking
of PSO albums altogether, but that's just a sign of how powerful
the music in this RPG series is, not that this CD is lacking. Unfortunately,
Sega
limited this release to boxed versions of a Japanese PC game! At
any rate, you can buy this CD on iTunes if you like; that's what I did.
