> "...says
a top third-party development executive who asked to be kept anonymous,
'and now I'm thinking even more about doing Dreamcast games.' The
statement goes a long way to explaining the frustration US developers are
feeling at the continuing delays they're facing getting Playstation2 development
kits.... It seems that Sony's development kits are still very difficult
to come by. And those select developers that do have kits have very
preliminary ones."
> Did I read the word "DELAY"???

> "In
the future, there will be a single, magical box attached to your television
that will instantly deliver a symphony of sights and sounds beyond your
wildest imagination."
> Haven't we already been exposed to this mantra before?

> "Will
the five years Yu Suzuki has dedicated to Shenmue be the crowning achievement
of his career, or a vainglorious waste of time?"
> Gosh, I wonder what attitude people should get from this kind of question?
Was this a rhetorical question? If it wasn't, then it's a shining example
of DFP bias.

> "Meanwhile,
as expected, Sony chimed in just days after, proclaiming a Japanese release
date of March 4, 2000, for their ultrapowerful uberconsole, the PS2."
> The people at Gamers' Republic do an excellent job. However, a
visit to the Shin/Sega Force Dictionary would help them to properly utilize
the word Uberconsole.

> "While
it could be argued that Dreamcast lacks any single killer app, the sheer
number of titles available and their overall level of quality makes it
the strongest launch lineup in the history of home consoles -- and this
despite not getting support from major publishers like Electronic Arts."
> I have three comments on this quote:
1) It could be argued that
the author of this quote lacks common sense.
2) Is it an oxymoron to
initially see a lack of quality and then somehow find loads of it???
3) It's irrelevant to point
out that Electronic Arts has no launch titles since they have never
had a launch title for any console! It makes more sense to
say: "Every major third party company is working on Dreamcast games except
Electronic Arts."

> "So,
have you purchased a Dreamcast yet? I assume by the time you're reading
this, a majority of you (or whoever pays the bills in your home) will have
already plunked down 200 big ones for Sega's new uber-system."
> Well, it looks like Sega/Shin Force isn't the only place you can read
about Sega's Uberconsole...

> "Worse,
if the Internet was to be believed, an overwhelming majority of Dreamcast
units were busted and
Sega would sink like a cement-shoed
Greg Louganis after the inevitable recall of the system."
> Isn't it a tad bit early to suggest a hardware recall? I don't
remember the notion ever being
put forth about another console which has chronic built-in defects...

> "The
amount of resources required by a sophisticated system like Playstation
2 is shaping up to be vastly more than for any previous console, and with
important details like the new system's price point and on-sale date still
very much up in the air, some publishers are either scaling back the number
of planned titles, or quietly taking a 'wait and see' attitude."
> Something doesn't add up here. We all know that Sega paid a price
for making the Saturn difficult to develop for. Electronic Arts specifically
complained about this Saturn feature, yet they are going full steam ahead
with PSX2 development. So is the PSX2 difficult and/or expensive
to develop for and are developers overlooking this built-in deficiency
in Sony's forthcoming console???
