> In recent years, gamers have been subjected to a firestorm of potentially
negative news articles, regarding Sega's future, at the beginning of every
year. The video game media has claimed for over three years that
Sega would start developing games for competing consoles and actually get
completely out of the hardware business. As you know, none of these
rumors have come true, even though they were accepted at face value by
the media.
> This year, even the national media is getting involved. This seems
to lend a little more credence to the possibility that something is going
to happen. It's been reported that Sega will develop games for Gameboy
Advance and Playstation 2. Reports also indicate that Sega will cease
production on Dreamcast hardware after March 2001, but continue software
development for at least the current year. Sega says over 100 games
(1st and 3rd party) are slated to be released for Dreamcast in the next
fiscal year.
> As you know, we're conservative here at Shin Force. It's safe to
say that something is going on. We know for sure that Sega of America
has some official announcements to make, starting next week (Monday).
Today we've learned that Sega is to announce a Set-top box deal with Pace
Technologies. I'm not denying anything, but I prefer waiting to hear
about Sega's future from the horse's mouth (without suspect Japanese translations)...
