Dreamcast
Has A Future | SEGA |
> In an official announcement by Sega today, we have learned that they
will team with U.K. set-top-box developer, Pace Micro Technology,
to license-out Dreamcast technology and jointly develop a set-top-box
with built-in DC architecture. The product is expected to be introduced
to the public very soon.
> Aside from Dreamcast technology, the set-top-box is said to have network
connectivity, a broadband connection, and a large capacity hard drive.
All current and future Dreamcast games are expected to be compatible, including
network games.
> Sega aims to become a leading network gaming service provider by focusing
on these four core businesses:
-
Licensing
of Dreamcast architecture
-
Interactive
network videogame content
-
Narrow
and Broadband electronic services to the online community
-
Location-based
amusement centers, featuring Sega's content
> Sounds like good news to me. "Dream-box" could be a great way for
Sega to continue supporting Dreamcast, while making money. Let's
hope this new team can get this ball rolling quick, because if the probable
"DC death articles" take hold, it may get to the point of no return...

Happy
Birthday Sega Force! | SEGA FORCE |
> January 27, 1997... a date which will live in every Sega Fan's
memory. Sega Force, featuring a wealth of classic Sega knowledge
to be learned, had its meager beginning four years ago! It's hard
to believe all the awesome games we've played since then -- Panzer
Dragoon Saga, the Shining Force III games, Sonic Adventure, Dead or Alive
2, Shenmue, and Skies of Arcadia (to name a few). Thanks for your
encouraging words over the years...
