> Unfortunately, Sega has now divided their talents among three systems.
While other systems are getting a lot of Sega ports, it could arguably
be said that Microsoft's Xbox is getting the lion's share of their ace
software. Since E3 2002 is history, I thought it would be appropriate to
list some of the reasons why "Sega Likes Xbox".
-
Jet
Set Radio Future | Smilebit | now | A
sequel to the fantastic inline skater that debuted on Dreamcast.
It features awesome graphics, cell animation, improved gameplay, and more
variety.
-
Gunvalkyrie
| Smilebit | now | An original third person action title with ties to Space
Harrier and Burning Rangers. To really master the game you'll need
to master the jumpack maneuvers.
-
Crazy

2002 | A sequel to the fast and furious cab driving series that debuted
on Naomi/Dreamcast.
-
ToeJam
& Earl III: All Funked Up | Visual Concepts/TJ&E
Prod. | October 2002 | Finally -- after all these years. A sequel
to the crazy, whacky alien adventure series that debuted on Genesis/Mega

-
Sega GT

an impressive racing sim with controversial gameplay that debuted on Dreamcast.
-
House

-
Panzer
Dragoon Orta | Smilebit | Fall 2002 | A sequel
to the highly acclaimed third person flying shooter series that debuted
on Saturn, and looks simply amazing. Take note, it's not reported
to be a shooter/RPG like PD Saga. BTW, didn't I tell you Smilebit
was quickly becoming an ace Sega developer?
-
Shenmue
II | AM2 | Q4 2002 | The continuing saga
of Ryo and his quest for revenge, which is set in a world full of action
and RPG elements, will be enhanced for Xbox. Although the original
Shenmue saw worldwide distribution on Dreamcast, Shenmue II is only available
in Japan and Europe, thanks to Microsoft's deep pockets.
-
Phantasy
Star Online | Sonic Team | TBA | Do you have
what it takes to be a Hero? If you own a Dreamcast, chances are you'd
say yes. Well, many more people will get the opportunity to earn
that title when Sega's fantastic online action/RPG hits the Xbox and GameCube.
-
Virtua
Fighter 4 | AM2 | TBA | At this point the
existence of this game is a highly placed rumor. It is said to include
network play, enhanced graphics, and additional moves. Of course,
you know this series originated on arcade/Saturn.
> Add Sega's entire 'Sega Sports 2K3' lineup, and you get one quality library.
Hmmm... is that enough for you to be impressed? IMO, Sega seems to
be favoring the house that "powered" Dreamcast. Finally, a notice
to the Massketeers (mass market gamers) out there: sequels are the future
of gaming in your world.
