Xbox
Charged With Grand Theft? | XBOX |
> Ever since the impending release of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto III (PSX2),
rumors have abounded of its conversion to Xbox. Most likely, this
would have happened a long time ago if there wasn't an exclusivity agreement
with Sony. Well, that contract runs out before the end of Rockstar's
first quarter of the fiscal year 2004. Also, Rockstar has announced
they will have a new Xbox SKU around the same time. GTA3 may even
make it for Christmas 2003! It's not concrete, but fans of the series
are most likely going to get an upgraded version on The Box. I say,
who cares? Almost every fanboy already has the PSX2 version, so why
insult Xbox owners with left-overs?

Games
To Watch | XBOX |
> Now that E3 of 2003 is history, it's time to sit back and count the number
of fine games we'll be playing soon. The list is somewhat short,
IMO, but quality seems to be very high. Here's a list of "Games To
Watch" for The Box (in no particular order):
-
Star
Wars: Knights of the Old Republic | Lucas Arts and Bioware team up
to release an epic RPG for starved Xbox owners.
-
Soul
Calibur II
| Namco does what Sega should be doing -- take a hot game and release it
on all platforms. As Dreamcast owners know, you can look for more
quality vs. fighting.
-
Otogi:
Myth of Demons
| Sega localizes a From Software original, which is jam packed with sweet
graphics, ninja gameplay and cool characters.
-
Sudeki
| At some point we'll see if this game was worth the wait. Another
RPG after 2 years development can't be that bad though.
-
Ninja
Gaiden
| Team Ninja will strengthen their position as a top developer in the industry
with the long awaited return of Ryu Hayabusa's realm. Trend setting
graphics and gameplay are promised.
-
Project
Gotham Racing II
| Yes, it's going Live now. Yet another Dreamcast spawn lives on.
Improved graphics, tweaked gameplay and much more.
-
Fable
| Along with Halo 2, this game could make or break Microsoft's mass market
image for the next year. A long awaited RPG with real world consequences
for the actions you take.
-
Halo
2 | This will most likely give a whole new generation of PSX2 converts
a reason to exist. At least Microsoft is counting on that future
for this highly anticipated first person shooter sequel.
-
Sega
GT Online |
Xbox Live support for one of the most enjoyable racing games in recent
memory. Did I mention this was a Dreamcast spawn?
-
Baldur's
Gate: Dark Alliance II
| More of what made the original a fantastic game. More spells, new
items, gorgeous environments, new playable characters, and powerful new
heroic feats.
-
Dead
or Alive Online | OMG. This is a dream come true for fans of
the series. Take the best original version, the Saturn one, and add
a beefed up DOA2: Hardcore and you get the ultimate DOA collector's release.
-
Kameo
| This will be the deciding factor as to whether Microsoft's acquisition
of Rare was worth it. As usual, Rare promises to deliver top notch
gameplay and graphics for this action adventure extravaganza.
-
Need
For Speed Underground | Ever since the 3DO original, I've been a fan
of the series. The latest update claims to be the best looking racer,
and also will be more realistic in the control department. Hopefully
that doesn't translate into bad gameplay.
-
True
Fantasy Live Online | Will this be enough to compete with FFXI?
Who knows. It does promise to bring a massively multiplayer online
RPG experience to lucky Xbox Live subscribers.
> Well, there you have it. My list of promising games which are due
out within 6 months. There's a lot of other games on the way too,
and maybe there will be some sleepers. I'll keep my eyes open and
let you know...
