INTRO:
         > Add Fighting Vipers (FV) to Virtua Fighter 2 (VF2) and throw in a little Virtua Fighter 3 (VF3) to get the basic idea what Fighters MEGAMiX (FM) is all about.  That's not all though, AM2 saw fit to upgrade everything: graphics, control, animation, music, etc.  It's all here and it's all better than you've seen it on home systems before.  There are tons of options and 32 playable characters to boot, albeit not all of them are immediately selectable.

         > If you're thinking of getting the import version, then don't worry.  It's completely playable and mostly in English.  To top it off, it even has PepsiMan (who is not in the American version)....

GRAPHICS:
         > FM's graphics are ultra smooth, just as we've come to expect from Saturn fighters.  There are, however, one or two stages where the graphics are too ambitious for the game engine and things bog down a bit.  Also, the resolution is not as high as VF2, but FM has lighting effects and gouraud shading to make up for that.  Your view of the action is from the side, although it rotates when either combatant uses the dodge move.  Add in tons of different backgrounds to enhance the overall luster of the game.  Lastly, hidden characters abound and winning battles is what you need to earn them. Exceptional!!!
CONTROL:
         > The control is perfect -- you choose between Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers styles.  AM2 knows fighters and they know the Saturn.  FM's moves are very much like VF2 and FV, plus it even includes some moves from Sega's model 3 wonder, VF3.  Aside from standard punch and kick moves, you can master combos, special attacks, and throws.  There's also the Practice Mode from FV which you can use to hone your skills.  It's just as easy to control as any AM2 fighter you've played and comes complete with unparalleled gameplay.  You want lots of moves, FM delivers the goods...
SOUND:
         > The music is very good.  It features guitar rock and some VF2 remixes.  You'll definitely enjoy the rockin' background tunes as you pummel your opponent.

         > FM's sound effects are great.  You'll hear realistic sound effects that don't get any better than this.  Every punch, kick and special move you hear is enough to make you cringe.  Complete stereo bliss awaits your Saturn...

FUN:
         > FM defines the word "fun", especially with a friend.  Options and characters are plentiful while the replayability is unlimited.  Included are various modes of play including Arcade, Versus, and Practice.  In order to unlock the additional characters you have to beat a series of predetermined matches.  Say hello to the best 32 bit fighter anywhere.
BOTTOM LINE:
     > This game is the benchmark for 32 bit fighting games.  A must have for all and certainly a great reason to own the Saturn.  It has a great mixture of animation, special effects, gameplay and sound -- an instant classic for all hardcore gameplayers...
Overall: 9.8 | Graphics: 9.8 | Control: 10 | Sound: 9.8 | Fun: 9.6
