Introduction |
> People that follow Shin Force know that I'm a fan of all
things Star Wars. By default, I'm inclined to appreciate
The
Force Unleashed II (TFU2). With that out of the way, I'm
here to tell you that you'll be hard pressed to find a better action oriented
game set in the George Lucas' sci-fi realm.
> This game improves on most of the strides made in the first Force
Unleashed, while adding some positive aspects. For instance,
your connection with the Force through gameplay is unparalleled,
the graphics are more detailed, and the controls are silky-smooth now.
The only area of the first game that isn't out-shined would be the storyline.
It's really hard to beat a story where you encounter both Darth Maul
and Darth Sidious. Anyway, Darth Vader
remains Starkiller's (main character) enemy... to the death? |
Graphics |
> There isn't much to say beyond spectacular! Whether it's
the cut-scenes or the in-game visuals, what you see is pure eye-candy.
I guess if I had to complain about something, the view is difficult to
maintain when looking up and locating a target. |
Control |
> TFU2's gameplay is tight and largely intuitive. There's plenty
of Jedi fighting mixed with light puzzles and light platform jumping (thank
the makers of this game). I find myself readily mastering the Quick
Time Battles (where you press certain buttons in a timely manor) as compared
to TFU1. The Force is definitely with this one, as you can do anything
a Jedi can do -- throw light sabers, force push, force lightning, and a
multitude of force combos. Top it all off with the fact that you're
wielding twin light sabers, and you have one excellent gameplay experience. |
Sound |
> You just can't go wrong with John Williams' famous Star
Wars soundtrack. Throw in all your standard Lucasarts
sound effects and you have every reason to leave the volume up while playing
TFU2. |
Fun |
> The night I started playing this game, I was frustrated by a few of the
levels. The good news is you can keep trying from one of the game's
many save spots. You can even build up your invincibility mode during
a failed mission. At any rate, there was something burning inside
that compelled me to play through the entire game on the first try.
It was pure gaming joy for over 6 hours. I did play through a second
time to unlock more achievements. |
Bottom
Line |
> I'd have to say even if you know nothing about Star Wars
or could care less: buy this game if you like a great action/adventure.
The rest is gravy... I went back to complete the first Force
Unleashed after beating this one! |
