     > Make sure to read my review for the American version of this game.  Thank goodness, somebody at Interplay had the notion to fix all the problems with the Japanese version.  Could this be yet another example of superior American releases???  If you want to read about the American version, then hit the "Review" link at the bottom of this page.

     > Super Runabout is the sequel to a PSX game that combines Crazy Taxi (Naomi/Dreamcast) with Driver (PC/PSX) gameplay to produce an interesting concept.  You choose a mission, select a car, drive anywhere, and crash into all sorts of vehicles along the way to earn money.  You can't just crash into everything though because it's game over if your vehicle takes too much damage.

     > Super Runabout's graphics look sweet.  San Francisco is modeled nicely.  Crashing into other vehicles usually causes them to fly through the air while breaking apart and emitting smoke.  The cars look awesome too.  You'll see reflections, damage, and plenty of smoke effects.  However, graphics aren't everything...

     > The game seems to be in slow motion -- sometimes it's because of slowdown, but usually it's because the rate of acceleration is very slow!  Once you do get up to speed, the car becomes excessively easy to wipeout in (but at least it looks like you're moving).  To top it off, the crash detection is weak because you can go right through light poles and other objects.

     > The premise is sound and the graphics are sweet, but the gameplay is suspect.  If you want to import it then go ahead because it's a snap to play.  I have played the game and I await Titus' announcement to improve Super Runabout for its American debut...  Unfortunately, I'm not holding my breath...

FIRST IMPRESSION:
     > I hope Titus decides to up the rate of acceleration, fix some or all of the slowdown, tighten the control, and add better crash detection.  Otherwise, this game will be forever known as "third party support material"...  Ride on, and go crazy!
