> If all goes as planned, American Uberconsole owners will receive Eternal
Arcadia, Grandia
II, and Phantasy
Star Online, all within the next few months! Originally
code-named "Project Ares", Eternal Arcadia will be renamed
"Skies of Arcadia" for the US market. Overworks
is working hard to ensure "Sega quality" in this highly anticipated
ubergame. Basically, you play as Vyse, an aspiring pirate ship captain
with a good heart. You must travel the skies of Arcadia while finding
treasure, finding new friends, and defeating evil.
> Everything about this game screams quality. The graphics are amazing,
from the real-time cut-scenes to the first person look around view!
The clouds... I've never seen game generated clouds that looked this
real! The faces... constantly changing expressions to set the
mood. Last but not least, the battle animations and special effects
must be seen.
> Eternal Arcadia's gameplay is quite varied. You'll
actually pilot your ship, fight ship to ship and team vs. team, have freedom
of movement (a la Time
Stalkers), talk to people, shop for items, and much more!
In battles you can run, guard, fight, use item, use technique, and use
magic... cool.
> The import game is all Japanese (speech and text) -- about the only thing
in English is the "Press Start" message before you begin. The gameplay
is easy to get into, but since you don't know exactly what you're objective
is (it becomes a process of elimination), the importability is low.
At least the game isn't bogged down by a massive menu system. |
