Tecmo Press Release | DREAMCAST
DEAD OR ALIVE 2? READY TO FIGHT IT OUT ON SEGA DREAMCAST?

     > TORRANCE, Calif., January 17, 2000 The highly anticipated sequel to the Dead or Alive? video game by Tecmo®, Dead or Alive 2?, will be introduced to North American Sega Dreamcast gamers this quarter.  Dead or Alive 2 promises the most advanced 3D polygon technology and gameplay ever seen in the fighting genre.

     > "DOA2 features a movie-like, cinematic quality that really pushes the state-of-the-art for video games," said John Inada, Tecmo¹s marketing manager. "The graphics are incredibly realistic, and fighting action is second to none.  Plus, it¹s packed with outrageously hot fighting babes."

     > DOA2 characters are able to fight it out in a number of graphically rich environments including The City, Cathedral, Elevator, Opera House, Wind Towers, Arctic Plains, Japanese Garden, and Generator Room.  Characters can fight on uneven surfaces, and can be pushed through windows and from ledges to carry on the battle in entirely new environments.  For example, players can throw an opponent through an enormous stained glass cathedral window onto the concrete below, or off a cascading waterfall into a mist-filled river.

     > Between matches, DOA2 has a special Cinema Mode feature that plays out each character¹s personal story in chapter format.

     > For Dead or Alive 2, Tecmo has added several additions to the returning cast of Dead or Alive characters, who have been "enhanced" in both physical appearances and fighting abilities.  There are 12 fighters to chose from, and they¹re the most detailed ever seen, with awesome fighting moves and plenty of that famous DOA bounce.  Returning to Dead or Alive 2 are Ayane, Bass, Gen-Fu, Kasumi, Lei-Fang, Tina, and Zack.  Joining the tournament are Ein, Helena, Leon, and Ryu who gamers will recognize from Tecmo¹s Ninja Gaiden.

     > Each of the 12 characters is capable of as many as three dozen special attacks as well as an arsenal of basic attacks, tag-team combos, reversals, and throws.  By making use of several sets of command inputs, some fighters
such as the professional wrestler Bass and his pro wrestling daughter Tina, can perform multi-stage throws by slamming an enemy into the ground, moving around into a leg breaker, and then tossing him into a wall.

     > Dead or Alive 2 features a one-of-a-kind "Tag Battle" mode that allows players to seamlessly alternate between characters during matches, performing crushing combination moves in which both fighters attack the opponent at the same time.  A player¹s tag-teammate is always ready and waiting just beyond the ring perimeter during the fight and can enter the brawl without any noticeable lag.  Also, a new "hold" button enables players to evade attacks and execute whiplash reversals, a feature unique to DOA2.

     > Dead or Alive 2 reprises the original game¹s Danger Zone.  Impacts on certain areas of the fight ring perimeter will cause damage to the fighters via massive explosions.

     > One of the more "sizzling" Danger Zones is located in the Bio Lab where a large electric generator sits in the middle of the ring.  When thrown into the generator, opponents are zapped with a surge of electricity strong enough to light up a small town.

     > Dead or Alive 2 carries a suggested retail price of $44.99.

     > Tecmo is the U.S. subsidiary of one of the leading video game producers for dedicated video game platforms and arcades.  Tecmo, well known for its title Tecmo Super Bowl?, offers a number of current consumer titles, including Monster Rancher 2, Dead or Alive?, Kagero, Deception II?, developed exclusively for the Sony PlayStation.  Tecmo will introduce Deception 3: Dark Delusion for the Sony Playstation and Monster Rancher Battle Cards for
the Nintendo Gameboy Color during 1Q 2000.

     > There you have it.  If you're not psyched for the arrival of Dead or Alive 2 on Dreamcast then it's safe to say you're not using a full deck.  I fully expect Dead or Alive 2 to take the Dreamcast fighter's crown!  Stay tuned to Shin/Sega Force because we'll be unveiling a new contest to win this awesome game real soon...
