INTRO:
         > The wait is over...  SNK graced us with SNK vs. Capcom, and now Capcom created  Capcom vs. SNK.  Whether it's X-Men vs. Street Fighter (Saturn) or Marvel vs. Capcom (Dreamcast), Capcom has released a steady stream of versus titles to keep fighting fans satisfied.  Capcom vs. SNK is just that -- a combination of characters and fighting styles with new locales and plenty of stuff to unlock.

         > The Japanese release is highly importable at 95%.  Just about everything during gameplay is in English except the winning quotes and most of the speech.  The only other places you'll find an appreciable amount of Japanese is in the descriptions of the bonus features and moves.

GRAPHICS:
         > Capcom vs. SNK's graphics are quite similar to Marvel vs. Capcom's.  Highly detailed backgrounds (including City Night, Castle Dusk, Canyon Train, Dark Alley, Bison's Hideout, and many more...), hand drawn characters, and just enough background animation is what to expect.  The character animation is top notch (of course).  As usual, new character portraits are included.  Oh, and don't worry, Mai looks as good as ever!  Finally, using the VGA box continues to reveal the limitations of Capcom's hand drawn characters (this may be bothersome).
CONTROL:
         > The controls are a four button layout plus two combo buttons.  Hence, using the ASCII FT is the preferred method, but the standard Ubercontroller isn't all that bad.  There are even special "Capcom" and "SNK" ASCII pads to go with this ubertitle.  No matter what you use, you'll be treated to classic Capcom and SNK fighting styles.  As expected, plenty of special moves and super special moves can be mastered.  Depending on what characters you select, you can fight with anywhere from 2-4 team members.  Versus fans will be able to get right into this game and appreciate Capcom's mastery of fighting gameplay.
SOUND:
         > For once, I must admit, Capcom has really come through in the music department.  Even though I don't normally get into techno-pop, this game's songs seem to fit really well.  Also, I don't even mind the rap in the background.  As for the sound effects, they're largely excellent.  My only real complaint would be Blanka's winning roars, which sound very weak.
FUN:
         > Choose from a ton of characters straight out of your favorite Capcom and SNK fighters.  Next, select from Arcade, Versus, Game Replay, and Training modes.  When you're done playing, you'll be awarded a certain amount of points, which can be used to buy additional characters and features.  Connectivity with SNK vs. Capcom (NGP) and Capcom vs. SNK (Naomi) via the VMS/VMU adds some variety.  Basically, this game really seals the Uberconsole's title of "2D fighter fan's machine".
BOTTOM LINE:
     > If you like the idea of mixing The King of Fighters with Street Fighter Alpha, then look no further.  Capcom confirms once more their utter supremacy in the 2D market.  Now, when is Capcom going to make a Street Fighter II role playing game?
Overall: 9.3 | Graphics: 9.5 | Control: 9.5 | Sound: 9.0 | Fun: 9.0
