> Will it come??? Are we in for another media onslaught of negative hype regarding numerous Dreamcast racers??? Are games like Sega GT, Metropolis Street Racer, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, and F355 Challenge too much of a good thing??? Well, who cares what the nay-sayers think anyway?!?! You can't mess with the current and forthcoming selection of uber-racers. Thankfully, Melbourne House was given the freedom to code Test Drive Le Mans (TDLM) from the ground up. Like Test Drive V-Rally, this game has nothing but forename in common with the notoriously mediocre series of racers (shivering to the thought of Test Drive 6). > As the name would suggest, this game is based on the famous French race known as 24 Hour Le Mans. There are three basic car classes in the game: GT1 (modified factory models); GT2 (street legal modified factory models); and Prototype (ultra powerful, non-factory race-only models). The in game polygon models for the cars are said to be astounding! You'll see over 40 licensed cars including the Porsche 911 GT2, Nissan R390 GT1, and Viper GTS R. > TDLM's courses are gorgeous and varied. Ten real life tracks will be available including Suzuka National, Catalunya National, Donington Grand Prix, and (of course) the French Le Mans. Realtime weather and surface effects accurately recreate the varying conditions of the real Le Mans 24 Hours race. The developer will also be using every graphic effect in the book to maximize your eye candy. Throw in the reported steady frame rate and tight control and you have a bona fide AAA title to force those sleepless nights... |
