> Climax Entertainment has a seasoned history with RPGs on Sega consoles. First they created Landstalker (Genesis), then Dark Savior (Saturn), and now Time Stalkers. The first two were action RPGs while Time Stalkers is more of a dungeon RPG (much like Evolution). In other words, get ready for random dungeons and items with optional battles. > Keep in mind that Time Stalkers (aka Climax Landers in Japan) was originally supposed to be out in March 1999. After some delays and tweaking, the game still ended up looking like a first generation title. That's not to say they're bad, just not up to speed with games like Crazy Taxi and Zombie Revenge. Still, expect to see decent 3D environments with some standard Dreamcast effects like lighting and shadows. > Although fighting is optional, you'll enjoy the leveling-up and capturing monsters to add to your party. You'll come across more characters while the story unfolds. Sega is supposed to have some VMU mini-games to keep gamers busy too. > I wouldn't bother with the import version for a few reasons. First, the dialogue is in Japanese. Second, Sega of America is tweaking the game engine for America. Finally, my importability rating isn't very good. |
